Conference Field Trips

Mercedes-Benz Stadium Tour

Tuesday, October 23, 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

In 2014, SEEA welcomed keynote Scott Jenkins, general manager of Atlanta’s future Mercedes Benz Stadium, to paint a picture of what would soon be the world’s most sustainable sports venue. In his presentation, Scott explained many of the innovative energy- and water-efficient features of the planned stadium, as well as its state-of-the-art waste stream management capabilities. It was a remarkable keynote!

Fast forward to 2018 and the now-completed Mercedes Benz Stadium is poised to host the 53rd Super Bowl in February 2019 as well as the 2026 World Cup. It is also the home of local soccer team Atlanta United. So on Tuesday, October 23rd , we invite you for an insider’s view of this new stadium in a one-of-a-kind field trip!

Complimentary transportation will be provided by SEEA from the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center to the stadium, and back. Immediately following the tour, please plan to join SEEA for our big conference celebration, sponsored this year by Bidgely!

Please join us for a tour of the Georgia Power Storm Center located in downtown Atlanta. You’ll be impressed by the work scope and capabilities of this center, whose job is to return power as quickly as possible following a storm event. To do this, the Georgia Power Storm Center coordinates storm readiness and response for its own customers, as well as crews for the other Southern Company organizations. Its major functions include:

  • Monitoring weather and staging crews in advance of a storm
  • Coordinating crew movements in Georgia and with other companies
  • Coordinating and preparing damage assessment teams and support for storm operations
  • Providing timely storm updates and communications to the media and beyond
